TWO men were arrested in connection with the shooting and wounding a village official in Barangay Cantuod, Balamban town, Cebu on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 19.

Robert Borres Alcantara, 42, of Barangay Tagbao, Cebu City, and Roger Markit Doncillo, 48, of Barangay Cabasiangan, Balamban, were arrested as suspects in the shooting of Cantuod barangay councilor Renato Pacquiao Tribunalo.

Also arrested was 21-year-old John Lyod Leyson Medio, who allegedly attempted to prevent operatives of the Balamban police to arrest Doncillo.

Lt. Col. Ruel Burlat, chief of the Balamban police, led the separate arrests on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Tribunalo told police that he was convinced that the two men were behind the attack based on the footage that captured the incident.

Alcantara was arrested around 5 p.m. in Tagba-o.

Alcantara then divulged his alleged accomplice that led to the arrest of Doncillo at 7 p.m. Barangay Cabasiangan, Balamban.

During the arrest, a black XRM motorcycle that was allegedly used in the crime was also recovered.

Police said Alcantara and Doncillo admitted that he was hired by the victim’s fellow councilor to carry out the attack.

The two suspects claimed they were paid P30,000 to kill Tribunalo but ended up getting paid by just P2,000.

Police said the victim was said to be planning for barangay captain in this year’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election.

Police said charges for frustrated murder will be filed against the suspects.(CDB)
