American national accused of abusing Filipina lover nabbed
AN AMERICAN national was arrested for allegedly raping his Filipina girlfriend in a hotel in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Police said the suspect, Joe Louis Camacho Romero, a 43-year-old native San Antonio, Texas, was also accused of threatening to kill the woman’s family.
Police said trouble broke out when the woman refused to have sex with the American.
Police said the incident happened inside a hotel room where the foreigner and his 21-year-old girlfriend from Zamboanga del Norte had checked in.
The woman told the police that she arrived in Cebu on Feb. 13 after she and the American agreed to meet.
The woman said they stayed for one night in a hotel in Lapu-Lapu City. They transferred to another hotel in Cebu City at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Inside the room, the woman said the American started hugging her and asked her to have sex with him. The woman said the American became furious when she declined.
The woman said she was forced to give in when the man warned that she knew where to find her family and threatened to kill them.
The woman added that before their meet-up, the American had promised to marry her once he comes back from the US.
The woman reported the incident to the Mabolo Police Station.
When she returned to the hotel, the woman said the Ameerican confronted her and shoved him in the parking lot. The commotion was witnessed by the hotel’s security personnel, who helped arrest the foreigner.
Police said appropriate charges are being readied against the foreigner.(CDB)
