THE driver of the vehicle that hit and killed a young businessman was not under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened near a posh subdivision in Cebu City on Sunday dawn, Feb. 8.

Police said Sean Andrew Pajarillo was not drunk at the time based on the sobriety test.

“Negative result ang nigawas sa findings,” said Lt. Col. Jose Los Baños, information officer of Cebu City Police Office.

Pajarillo was the driver of a Toyota Innova, which first hit a parked sedan car Paseo Saturnino Road in Barangay Banilad.

Pajarillo sped off toward Maria Luisa Village but ended up hitting a pedestrian, who was later identified as 23-year-old Kingston Ralph Cheng, an owner of a coffee shop.

Pajarillo still didn’t stop after hitting Cheng until his vehicle fell on its side.

Pajariilo and Cheng were brought to separate hospitals. Cheng was later declared dead.

Los Baños said investigators are preparing to file charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against Pajarillo, who is still confined in a hospital.(CDB)
