Ambulance driver in fatal flyover crash charged
CHARGES have been filed against the driver of the ambulance that hit and killed a female engineering student in Barangay Luz, Cebu City on Tuesday, April 14.
Police said a complaint for reckless imprudence pesulting in serious physical injury and damage to property was filed against Kevin Ryan Gesta, 23.
Col. George Ylanan, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, said the charges were filed by the family of Juan Antonio Ladioray, 19.
Ladioray was the driver of the motorcycle, which was hit by an ambulance on a two-lane flyover on Archbishop Reyes Avenue.
The backrider of the motorcycle, Braille Nichole Kwek, 18, died in the crash.
The family of Kwek has expressed willingness to file a case against Gesta, who allegedly counterflowed on the flyover that caused the accident.
Like Kwek, Ladioray is also a mechanical engineering student at the University of San Carlos.
Police said they are still awaiting the arrival of Kwek before additional charges could be filed against Gesta.
A separate case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide could be filed against the ambulance driver for Kwek’s death.(CDB)
