JAKE Amparo has an unpleasant memory at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The 28-year-old fighter from the PMI Bohol Boxing Stable will try to erase that bad memory when he sees action in the same venue against a Japanese champion.

Amparo will trade leathers with Takeshi Ishii, who will be putting his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) minimumweight title on the line on September 9.

Nicknamed “El Bambino”, the former world title challenger Amparo saw action at the Korakuen Hall last March but lost to Takero Kitano via unanimous decision in a non-title bout.

Overall, Amparo will be fighting in Japan for the fourth time. He was on a two-fight winning streak before losing to Kitano.

Amparo has 16 wins, seven losses, and a draw. Four of his victories were via knockout.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old Ishii will be gunning for a fourth straight win. Included in Ishii’s string of wins was a unanimous decision win over Cebuano John Kevin Jimenez in September last year.

Ishii parades a 10W-1L record with eight KO wins.

Interestingly, Ishii’s lone loss so far was dealt by a Filipino fighter.

Ishii started his pro career with seven straight wins before he was stopped on his tracks by Lito Dante in their September 12, 2023 duel.

Dante stunned Ishii with a split decision win in their eight-round encounter. Ishii quickly got back on track by winning his last three fights.(CCM)
