A MAN was killed after he allegedly shot it out with the police in Barangay Paril, Cebu City on Thursday dawn, April 23.

Police identified the fatality as Roy Olivio.

Capt. Leonyl Iren, chief of Adlaon Police Station 13, said they responded to a report of an indiscriminate firing involving a resident in the barangay.

Police went to the suspect's house but they were greeted with bullets when they knocked on the door of the man's house.

Police returned fire and hit the suspect in the foot and body. The man was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead.

Some neighbors told the police that the man had vowed that he will not turn himself in alive after he received reports that he will be arrested for his alleged involvement in gun-related incidents.

Iren said the man was arrested in 2013 for violation of the election gun ban. After he was released from jail, the man was arrested again in 2015 for illegal drugs.

Iren said there were also reports that the man was allegedly involved in gun-running activities.

Personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operation recovered a .45 caliber pistol that was allegedly used by the suspect during the shootout.(CDB)
