Capitol distributes cash aid to ‘habal-habal’ drivers in 7th district

THE Cebu provincial government conducted another round of fuel subsidy distribution to habal-habal drivers in southern municipalities on Thursday, May 14.

The distribution of financial assistance were held in municipalities of Alegria, Badian, Malabuyoc, and Moalboal in the 7th District. Similar activitiy was held on Wednesday, May 13, in Argao, Santander, and Samboan where at least 1,00 drivers received cash aid.

Over 4,000 habal-habal drivers are qualified to receive assistance.

The Capitol set aside P12.4 million for the program, which part of the province’s initiatives to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs.

Under the program, each beneficiary will receive P3,000.

In the 2nd District, the Capitol has shelled out P3.3 million for 1,112 habal-habal drivers while in the 7th District, over 2,000 beneficiaries are expected to receive fuel subsidy amounting to a total of P6.2 million.

On Friday, May 15, more than 900 habal-habal drivers in Dumanjug and Alcantara will also receive P3,000 each.

The Capitol started to roll out the fuel aid program this month and disbursed P11.58 million to 3,950 motorcycle taxi drivers across the municipalities of Cordova, Oslob, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Ronda, Ginatilan, Tuburan, Balamban, the four towns in Camotes Islands, and the town of Catmon.(MyTVCebu)
