CIT-U bounces back, shocks UC Main
THE Cebu Institute of Technology-Univeristy (CIT-U) Wildcats rebounded from a sorry loss the last time out by tripping the University of Cebu (UC)-Main Webmasters, 59-53, on Thursday night, Oct. 1, in the collegiate basketball tournament of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Braebon Ali Thompson delivered a near double-double performance, leading the Wildcats with 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
CIT-U, thus, bounced from a tight 54-88 to the streaking University of San Carlos Warriors and raised its record to 4-3 (win-loss).
Ed Andrie Omambac added nine points, Regie Ayon, Keith Francis Marquez, and Wayne Victor Gementiza each threw in seven points for the Wildcats, who dominated the final three periods to secure the win.
CIT-U trailed at the end of the first period, 12-15, but came alive in the second quarter to take the lead for good, 29-27.
Luther Gabriel Leonard scored 19 points and Maverick Eligoyo had 12 points but UC, which suffered a third loss in seven games.
CIT-U and UC are now tied at third place, trailing the second-place Benedicto College, which is 4-1.
Tied at the No. 1 spot are the four-time defending champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers and the Warriors, who are both 5-1.(CCM)
