HE IS fighting behind enemy lines but make no mistake about it, a Tanzanian boxer is determined to go home a winner when he faces one of the rising Filipino fighters.
World-rated Mchanja Yohana fired the first shots, giving Boholano boxer Regie “The Filipino Phenom” Suganob some stern warnings ahead of their highly-anticipated duel in the “Kumong Bol-anon 23” on Nov. 22 at the PMI Main Campus Gym in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
“Regie, you have to do your math very carefully. I know you have faced many tough and respected champions in your career. But this time, it’s different,” said Yohana in a video released by PMI Bohol Boxing Stable.
It seemed like going up against the very skilled Suganob is not bothering the visiting fighter at all.
“You have never fought someone like me. In that ring, you are going to meet the most stubborn, most relentless and toughest fighter you have ever faced,” he said.
Dead serious in inflicting Suganob a critical loss, Yohana flew in early to acclimatize himself with the weather and get the needed rest in time for the gigantic showdown.
Yohana and his team arrived in Bohol on Tuesday night, Nov. 18.
The 27-year-old Yohana is on an eight-fight winning streak. He has 22 wins, 15 via knockout, six losses, and a draw.
For Yohana, there’s no question who’s going to win the fight as he even challenged Suganob to go all-out.
“So prepare yourself. Because when the bell rings, I expect you to give a very good fight. But make no mistake, the victory will be mine,” the reigning global flyweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) said.
For his part, Suganob is gunning for a win that will bolster his world title aspirations.
Currently ranked No. 4 in the WBO light flyweight division, No. 9 in the World Boxing Council, and No. 11 in the International Boxing Federation, the 28-year-old Suganob has 16 victories with only one defeat. Six of his wins came by knockout.(CCM)
