Magis Eagles soar to Palarong Mandaue hoops title

They started strong, and finished even stronger.

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles authored a dominant run in the Palarong Mandaue 2026 Division Meet, ruling the elementary basketball tournament by drubbing Tabok Elementary School (ES), 60-35, on Monday, Sept. 7.

The Gabriel Catolico-mentored Magis Eagles completed a clean sweep, never tasting a single loss en route to seizing the championship crown.

Ateneo, which also has Jethro Balogbog and Gio Laguyo as assistant coaches, started the tournament with an eye-popping 70-14 win over Cubacub ES.

The Magis Eagles clinched a semifinal berth by beating Paknaan ES in their second assignment, 36-25.

Ateneo then booked a championship ticket by outlasting Tabok ES in their semifinal duel, 36-25. The Magis Eagles then repeated over Tabok ES in the championship round to cap a stellar campaign.

With the feat, the champion team, composed of Stefano Tequillo, Ludwig Trocio, Franco Servano, Schyler Famador, Daniel Gothong, Arkin Ayson, Theo Maddox Matheu, Addison Sarcauga, Asher Ding, Farrell Dy, Miguel Plaza, and Marcus Banaay will represent Mandaue in the upcoming Central Visayas Athletic Association Meet.(CCM)
