More bodies recovered from collapsed Angeles building, death toll rises to 24
THE number of fatalities from the collapsed building in Angeles City, Pampanga has climbed to 24 after rescue teams recovered more bodies, including that of an infant.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection-Central Luzon, four victims were recovered within minutes of each other between 1:13 p.m. and 1:19 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
The body of the infant was later retrieved at around 6:01 p.m. Earlier in the day, responders also recovered three other bodies from the rubble between 1:56 a.m. and 4:08 a.m.
Meanwhile, rescue teams also recovered the body of a dog from the collapse site at around 1:34 a.m.
On Wednesday, June 3, three more bodies were recovered.
All recovered remains were immediately turned over to the City Health Office for proper handling, documentation, and Disaster Victim Identification procedures.
Search, rescue, retrieval, and clearing operations remain ongoing as responders continue to work through the debris while following strict safety measures at the site.(Shanice Kaye Ocio, CNU Comm Intern)
