Mortashield cops CABC Mortabond Cup crown

MORTASHIELD dug deep into its arsenal to defeat Mortapaint Pro, 69-64, and copped the championship crown of the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 3rd Mortabond Cup 2026 last Sunday, April 12, at the Game Changer Sports Complex in Mandaue City.

In a game that featured 11 lead-changes and 10 deadlocks, Mortashield relied on its deeper bench to come away with the title-clinching victory.

Mortashield’s reserves outscored Mortapaint’s bench, 48-25, while also scoring more points in the shaded lane, 40-32.

Dexsel Caadan powered the champion team with 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists while Reddick Palmitos added 13 markers.

Also giving Mortashield solid production was Miggy Aparri, who posted a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds on top of three assists, a steal, and a block.

John Therese Buhawe fired 26 points to lead Mortapaint Pro while Joseph Layar contributed 16.

In the battle for third place, Mortaseal Flexi dumped Duraplas Lite, 107-86, with Justin Aspacio tallying 28 puntos, eight assists, and seven rebounds.

Backing Aspacio in the win was Jay Devenadera, who piled up 25 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots.

With only six players showing up, Duraplas Lite struggled mightily, putting to naught Zach Elisha Go’s 24-point, 12-rebound, eight-assist, two-steal performance.(CCM)
