Pinamungajan seeks P2-million funding for library

THE municipality of Pinamungajan Cebu is asking the Cebu Provincial Government for P2 million in financial assistance for the construction of its public library.

The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Pinamungajan carried a resolution authored by couniclor Marmie Jeanne Albillar to formalize the request to the Capitol.

The municipal council said it plans to establish a suitable and functional public library to provide residents with an accessible learning space and information center. It recognizes the important role of education, literacy, and access to information in supporting the intellectual, social, and cultural development of the community, particularly among children, students, teachers, researchers, and other constituents.

“The proposed public library will serve as an important community facility that complement the educational programs of schools and other learning institutions and provide opportunities for residents to access books, reference materials, digital resources, and other information services," the council said.

However, with the limited financial resources, the municipal government is in need of more fund for the project, prompting it to seek assistance and support from the provincial government.

The town also assured that the requested financial assistance will solely be used for the construction of the public library subject to existing accounting, auditing, budgeting, procurement and other applicable rules and regulations.(MyTVCebu)
