Public hearing on airport expansion project in Sta. Fe set
THE Cebu Provincial Government will be conducting a public hearing on the planned expansion of the airport in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island.
The public hearing is set on June 19.
In an advisory posted on its official social media account, the Capitol urged landowners and residents to attend the hearing, which will start at 2 p.m. at the Santa Fe gym.
According to Provincial Assessor Michelle Languido, the public hearing is part of the process in the planned expansion of the airport.
“Gipost na nato because ipadayon naman kadtong expansion sa airport,” said Languido.
The public hearing is also to ensure that the residents living on the properties are the real owners of the land.
“Lisod man gud sad kaayo kun pananglitan naay mahitabo nga palit, unya paghuman diay, di diay mao ang mga kanang hintungdan gyud ba, mga owners sa property, so mas better nga naay information gyud as a form of public hearing” Languido told MyTV Cebu.
Languido added that the Capitol will explain the process of acquiring the subject lots and also wants to hear the concerns and sentiments of the residents in the area that will be affected.
An assessment on the current fair market value of the properties will also be conducted.
The Capitol has urged landowners of at least 46 properties located in Barangay Balidbid to bring with them proof of ownership or documents that would prove that they are indeed the owner of the subject lot.
“Kung ikaw/kamo representante lamang, gihangyo kamo sa pagdala usab sa inyong Special Power of Attorney ug kon ikaw ang sumusunod (heirs) sa mga tag-iya sa luna gihangyo kamo sa pagdala og birth certificate o mga dokumento nga ikaw sumusunod,” the Capitol said.
Languido said the airport expansion will affect properties located in Barangays Balidbid and Okoy in Santa Fe.
In the previous administration, the Capitol formally asked the 63 lot owners nestling in the total 22.5 hectares of land surrounding the Bantayan Island airport to sell their properties to the Cebu Provincial Government for the airport’s expansion and development.
The Capitol plans to extend the runway from 1.5 km to three kilometers to accommodate commercial flights. The Bantayan Airport has been managed by the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority since April 2023.(MyTVCebu)
