South African pug to fly in early for ‘Kumong Bol-anon 26’

SOUTH African boxer Sivenathi “The One” Nontshinga is so determined to pull off a major win that he is flying in early for his crucial assignment in Bohol.

Nontshinga and his team will arrive in Bohol on Sept. 6, almost a week before his grudge rematch with Regie “The Filipino Phenom” Suganob in the main event Kumong Bol-anon 26 on Sept. 12 at the Bohol Wisdom School in Tagbilaran City.

In the flight details released by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions, Nontshinga will be accompanied by trainers Barend Robert Pailman and Colin Grant Nathan.

Arriving early will enable Nontshinga to acclimatize to the Philippine weather and fine tune his arsenal for the mammoth duel.

Nontshinga’s second duel with Suganob is a world title eliminator which means the winner will earn a shot at Thanongsak Simsri, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight world champion.

Nontshinga is looking to score a repeat after defeating Suganob via unanimous decision in their first meeting in 2023.

The victory netted Nontshinga the IBF light flyweight title–a world title belt that he eventually lost.

The 27-year-old Nontshinga struggled a bit since beating Suganob after losing two of his last four fights. He currently has 14 wins, 11 by knockout (KO), and two defeats.

In contrast, Suganob went on a tear since losing to Nontshinga that saw him rack up five straight wins.

The 29-year-old prized fighter of PMI Bohol Boxing Stable has 18 wins with only one defeat and seven KO victories.(CCM)
