Streak’s over as Cebu falls to Gensan in MPBL

CEBU saw its five-game winning streak come to a screeching halt as the Greats bowed to the Gensan Warriors, 80-91, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Mark Meneses, Brian Heruela, and Paul Desiderio delivered productive performances but still couldn’t help Cebu preserve its hot run.

The loss pulled the Greats down to 7-3 (win-loss).

While it ended Cebu’s scorching run, Gensan stayed hot, cruising to a 10th straight win to match Caloocan’s unbeaten start in the 28-team competition.

Meneses led Cebu with 17 points and six rebounds, Heruela collected 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals, while Desiderio piled up 10 points, two rebounds and a couple of assists.

Joshua Fontanilla, showed the way for Gensan with 17 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Six-foot-five bruiser Anton Eusebio backed Fontanilla with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.

Marwin Dionisio had his own double-double, helping Gensan’s cause by collecting 15 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.

Mark Cruz added 12 points and five assists and Kris Porter chipped in 13 points in Gensan’s balanced attack.(CCM)
