Subangdaku gets new P60-million school building
A NEWLY inaugurated P60-million, two-storey school building at Subangdaku Elementary School in Mandaue City is expected to ease classroom congestion as classes prepare to open next school year.
The structure, turned over on June 2, 2026, includes 10 classrooms and a multi-purpose hall funded through a private-public partnership led by Dynamic Castings.
Department of Education-Central Visayas Regional Director Arturo Bayocot underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing the national classroom backlog, while Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro and Mayor Thadeo Ouano both expressed support for education initiatives.
Education officials and local leaders said the project reflects continued efforts to close infrastructure gaps in public schools across Central Visayas, where overcrowding remains a persistent concern in many divisions.
Bayocot highlighted the role of shared responsibility among education stakeholders and thanked partners who supported school development efforts.
“The act of giving is not measured by its size, but by the heart behind it,” he said.
He also called on communities to maintain involvement in school preparation programs.
“We call upon the entire community to once again unite in ensuring that our schools are safe, clean, and ready for the opening of classes,” he said.
Baricuatro reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to education programs and announced support for additional learning facilities, including funding for a speech laboratory aimed at improving students’ communication skills.
“Education is never the work of one person alone,” Baricuatro said, as she stressed the role of families, teachers, government, and private partners in building stronger learning systems.
Ouano also recognized the importance of expanding school infrastructure, noting that investments in education support long-term community development.
“Behind every engineer, doctor, entrepreneur, governor, mayor, community leader, and citizen is someone who took the time to teach, guide, and encourage a child,” Ouano said.
Dynamic Castings managing director Mary Lou Ngo-Ang, who led the private-sector contribution, said the project began through coordination with the school community and developed through continued engagement with education stakeholders.
She said the initiative reflects her family’s long-standing connection to Subangdaku and their commitment to supporting education programs in the area.
“Today is more than a building turnover. Today is a continuation of a story,” Ngo-Ang said.
Ngo-Ang added that the project aims to provide improved learning and activity spaces for students while supporting teachers in delivering instruction in a more conducive environment.(MyTVCebu)
