SEVERAL people were injured after Iran launched drone and missile attacks on key aluminium plants in the Middle East, according to officials.

In the United Arab Emirates, authorities, per a report by BCC, said an Iranian strike damaged a major aluminium facility in Abu Dhabi operated by Emirates Global Aluminium, leaving a number of people hurt.

In Bahrain, state-owned company Aluminium Bahrain also reported that two workers were injured after another Iranian attack hit one of the world’s largest aluminium smelting plants.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the strikes were carried out using drones and missiles.

Iran claimed the factories were connected to the American military and said the attacks were in response to earlier strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian industrial facilities.

Tensions across the region continue to grow as more countries reported attacks.

Oman is investigating a drone strike in the port city of Salalah that reportedly injured a foreign worker, while Kuwait said its international airport radar system was heavily damaged after being hit by 15 drones.

The conflict also widened after the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen launched missiles toward Israel, targeting what it called military sites. Israel said it intercepted two of the missiles.

The growing conflict is also affecting global energy supply after Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil shipments. Experts warn that further attacks, especially in the Red Sea, could cause oil and gas prices to rise worldwide. (Bhea Bianca S. Sadaya, CTU-TC BAEL-ELSD Intern)
