CITING continued hardship among drivers despite recent fuel price rollbacks, a transport group is set to stage another round of a three-day strike beginning Tuesday, April 21.

Manibela chairman Mar Valbuena said the protest aims to call out what the group described as excessive taxation and government inaction amid the ongoing energy crisis.

He stressed that current fuel prices remain too high for public utility drivers.

In a report by Philstar, the group is pushing for pump prices to drop to around P50 to P60 per liter, claiming this reflects the actual cost of fuel. They also reiterated their demand to remove value-added tax and excise tax on diesel and gasoline.

According to Manibela, the strike is meant to highlight the financial strain on drivers and urge the government to review its fuel tax policies.(Zsarrhied Samantha A. Tanjay, CTU-TC BAEL-ELSD Intern)
