UC routs hapless San Roque by 47

THE University of Cebu (UC)-Main Baby Webmasters started like a house on fire and didn’t let up, nailing an easy 101-54 win over the hapless San Roque College de Cebu Greyhounds in the secondary basketball tournament of the CESAFI Season 26 on Monday night, Sept. 22, at the Cebu Coliseum.

UC rattled San Roque by employing a pesky full-court press, holding the Greyhounds scoreless in the first four minutes of the match to quickly take control.

By the end of the first period, the Baby Webmasters were already ahead big, 31-14, and padded the advantage to 51-27 at the bend.

The Baby Webmasters pounded the Greyhounds further in the final half where they erected leads as big as 48.

Sealing a third win in four games to stay within striking distance with the league-leading University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars, UC had five players scoring in double figures.

Gamaliel Chaz dela Peña topscored for UC with 17 points while towering center Jade Bialan collected 16 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, one steal, and an assist. Mark Jovil Datoon, Earl Joshua Booc, and John Terol pitched in 11 markers apiece for UC, which closely trails the Baby Jaguars, who are 3-0 (win-loss).

The Greyhounds suffered a third straight loss that pulled them down to 1-3.

Jezreel John Muñez led San Rique with 14 points, John Raven Dumanhug had 12 points and Haiden Andales added 11.(CCM)
