AFTER suffering a shock loss in their first meeting, the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters took care of business this time, pulling off a vengeful 71-62 win over the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons at the resumption of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 25 on Tuesday night, Nov. 18, at the Cebu Coliseum.

UP had authored what is by far the season’s biggest upset when they took down UC in their first encounter last Sept. 30, 69-73. It was only UP’s first loss since starting the tournament with seven straight defeats.

The Webmasters made sure there will be no meltdown in their second-round duel, seizing control after taking a 34-27 lead at the half en route to snatching their eighth win in nine games.

UP fell to 1-8, losing steam after opening an early 15-11 lead.

Ricofer Sordilla led the charge for UC with 15 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Ray Charles Libatog pitched in 12 points while Carlo Salgarino had 11 markers.

Kent Joshua Cabanlit led the losing squad with 15 points, four rebounds, an assist, a block, and two steals. Joaquin Saldivar tossed in 13 points and 11 rebounds while AJ Delos Reyes added 10 points.(CCM)
