USJ-R downs USPF to stay perfect

THE University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguar Cubs kept their unbeaten run going after they downed the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 79-74, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 secondary basketball tournament on Monday night, Sept. 29, Cebu Coliseum.

Four Jaguar Cubs scored in double figures with Jhun Miguel Telmo leading the way with 17 points.

John Gregory Caresosa, James Precious Ponce, and Erron Jay Dimco each tallied 11 points as the Jaguar Cubs used a balanced production to hike its record to 4-0 (win-loss).

The win allowed USJ-R to force a two-way tie at the No. 1 spot in the team standings with the University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu/Cebu Baby Webmasters, who are also 4-0.

Not far behind are the five-time defending champions Ateneo de Cebu-Sacred Heart School Magis Eagles, who sport a clean 3-0 slate.

The Baby Panthers had one player scoring in double figures with Kiz Lawrence Selim tallying 12 points. USPF is still searching for its first win as it dropped a third straight game.

USPF is one of the three teams that have yet to win. The Paref-Springdale Titans are winless in five games while the Don Bosco Greywolves are off to a 0-4 start.(CCM)
