Voter registrations in Cebu for BSKE top 250,000 mark
THE number of voter registrations that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has processed in Cebu Province for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this year reached more than 250,000.
Data showed that at the conclusion of the registration last Monday, May 18, Comelec-Cebu processed 257,383 voter registrations, including 69,035 for the SK election.
SK applicants are those aged 15 to 17 years old on or before November 2, 2026.
Of the total registrations, 68,866 were new registrants. Those who transferred from other cities/municipalities totaled 274 while other types of applications reached 165.
For regular voters, the number of registration applications was 69,103.
For those who applied for transfer from other cities or municipalities, the Comelec processed 64,775 applications.
As for the reinstatement and reactivation of records, the number of applications reached 19,499.
For other types of applications, the total reached 34,701.
Based on the Comelec’s data, the number of regular registered voters in Cebu Province including the tri-cities of Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cebu City, is 3,413,451, excluding registrants from April and May since the applications are still subject to processing and verification by the Election Registration Board (ERB).
The registration of voters resumed in October last year until May 18 following the postponement of the BSKE, which is slated for November 2 this year.
The Comelec calendar of activities showed that the election period will run from Oct. 3 to Nov. 9 while the campaign period will be from Oct. 22-31.(MyTVCebu)
