Young trader dies in hit-and-run in posh village

A YOUNG entrepreneur died in a hit-and-run incident in a posh subdivision in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City past

midnight on Sunday, Feb. 8

The fatality was identified as Kingston Ralph Cheng, 23. He was reportedly the owner of a luxury coffee shop.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but did not survive.

Investigators said the incident happened shortly before 1 a.m.

According to the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, the victim was allegedly hit by a Toyota Innova with plate number GAP 3492 driven by Sean Andrew Pajarillo, 21.

Police said the Innova first hit a parked Toyota Vios but did not stop.

As it sped off, the Innova hit a pedestrian.

According to witnesses, the strong impact caused the victim to slam into an eletric post.

The Innova continued speeding until the driver lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to fall on its side.

The driver was also brought to a hospital after sustaining injuries.

Police said appropriate charges will be filed against the driver.(CDB)
