Depleted Mortaseal shocks Mortaflow in CABC hoops

DESPITE a badly depleted lineup, Mortaseal Flexi chalked up a win it sorely needed as it tripped Mortaflow, 75-64, in the 3rd Mortabond Cup 2026 of the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) at the Game Changer Gymnasium in Mandaue City.

Mortaseal showed up with only six available players but with team captain Criz Matunog leading the way, it was still able to pull through to secure just its second win in four games.

Matunog stuffed the stat sheet with 25 points, seven assists, and two steals and got ample support from Jay Devenadera, who tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

Chester Hinagdanan was also productive for Mortaseal as he finished with 20 points.

Mortaflow, which slid to 2-2 (win-loss), was led by Anthony Bajenting, who piled up 24 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block.

Aaron Yang tallied 16 points in the loss.

In another game, Mortapaint Pro stayed perfect after plastering Duraplas Lite, 77-73.

John Therese Buhawe collected 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and one steal, Joseph Layar scored 19 points and Dexter Moreno contributed 11 markers as Mortapaint Pro surged to 4-0.

Duraplas Lite crashed to its third loss in four outings.

Zach Elisha Go topped Duraplas Lite with 27 points while Jumar Watin and Miguel Cenabre chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Also winning was Mortashield, which escaped Mortaplug, 82-78.

James Nacario, Kurt Damandaman, Abet Ceniza, and Christian Carbon powered Mortashield with 14, 13, 11, and 10 points, respectively.

Mortashield improved to 3-1 while Mortaplug, which got 19 points from Francis Cabigas, dropped to 0-4.(CCM)
