ALEX Eala’s clay-court campaign is off to a rough start and the Filipina tennis sensation looks to change that when she competes in the Strasbourg Grand Prix in France.

The WTA 500 tournament, which is set on May 17, features a strong field with 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, two-time Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejcikova, three-time Grand Slam doubles champion Zhang Shuai, and world No. 1 doubles player Katerina Siniakova set to see action.

The 20-year-old Eala is looking to find her rhythm as he gears up for the tough French Open later this year.

Eala, currently ranked no. 42 in the world, has competed in clay-court tournaments in Linz, Stuttgart, Madrid, and Rome.

Eala couldn’t come up with a deep run in those tournaments, winning just four matches and dropping three in those runs.

Eala’s last competition was in the Italian Open where she triumphed in the first two rounds before losing to world No. 2 Elena Rybakina in the Round of 32.

While coming up empty in four clay-court tournaments so far, Eala said she’s starting to get into a good rhythym.

“I’m finding my footing and I know that I can do well. I’m a much better player physically and mentally than I was last year and we’ve really been working hard, my team and I. And hopefully the things we’ve been working on will reflect more on my game,” Eala said in an interview with Tennis Channel.(CCM)
