Service crew, call center jobs top vacancies in Central Visayas

SERVICE crew and call center agent positions emerged as the most in-demand jobs in Central Visayas last week, according to the latest Labor Market Information (LMI)

Weekly report released from the Department of Labor and Employment here (DOLE-7).

Data gathered from the PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) and PhilJobNet showed 302 service crew vacancies and 300 call center agent openings posted from July 24 to 30.

These made the two roles the region’s top job vacancies for the period.

Staff nurse and office cleaner positions tied for third place, with 100 openings each, followed by cashier (75), promo salesperson (63), and cook, general (61).

Other roles rounding out the top 10 included professional nurse, general (54); sales associate professional (53); and bagger (50).

The report also listed waiter, general and counter clerk positions among the top vacancies, with 50 and 40 openings, respectively.

Merchandiser, caregiver for institution-based settings, and customer service assistant roles followed, each posting 30 to 33 vacancies.

Sales and promotion supervisor and assistant store supervisor positions tied at 20 openings each, alongside assistant manager roles.

Company driver and auditing clerk positions closed out the top 20, with 15 vacancies each.

By location, Cebu City recorded the highest concentration of vacancies in the region, with 4,265 openings, dwarfing figures from other localities.

Lapu-Lapu City followed with 408 vacancies, while Mandaue City posted 207.

The city of Naga, Cebu, logged 76 vacancies, followed by Danao City with 38.

Compostela and Consolacion rounded out the list with nine and five vacancies, respectively.

The PEIS serves as a nationwide database of jobseekers, employers, vacancies, and client transactions handled by Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), DOLE-7 said.

Meanwhile, PhilJobNet captures job vacancy postings along with employer and jobseeker profiles.

The agency noted that not all vacancies listed in the PEIS are necessarily posted on PhilJobNet, and encouraged jobseekers to coordinate directly with the nearest PESO for openings that may not appear on the online portal.

Jobseekers may also visit PhilJobNet.gov.ph, the Philippine government’s official job portal, to browse available postings or register as applicants.

The LMI Weekly report is part of DOLE Region VII’s regular releases tracking labor market trends across Cebu and the wider Visayas region, aimed at helping jobseekers identify where opportunities are concentrated.(RBE)
