PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s public satisfaction rating slightly improved in the second quarter of the year according to a recent survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS).

Satisfaction with the President improved from a record low 33 percent in March to 38 percent in the June 20 to 29 survey released on Monday, July 13.

Meanwhile, public dissatisfaction decreased from 49 percent to 45 percent and undecided respondents moved from 18 percent to 17 percent.

From the record low “poor” -15 in March, Marcos’ net satisfaction rating improved to “neutral” -7 in the latest poll, a report by Philstar said.

The net satisfaction rating is obtained by subtracting those who were satisfied from those who were dissatisfied with the performance of a government official.

Under SWS' classification, net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above are considered "excellent," +50 to +69 as “very good,” +30 to +49 as “good,” +10 to +29 as “moderate,” +9 to -9 as “neutral,” -10 to -29 as “poor,” -30 to -49 as “bad,” -50 to -69 as “very bad,” and -70 and below as “execrable.”

Survey data showed that Marcos has an average net satisfaction rating of +23 throughout his presidency. His highest rating was +68 ("very good"), recorded in December 2022.

Satisfaction with Marcos was highest in the rest of Luzon at 47

percent (from 42 percent), followed by the Visayas at 40 percent (from 34 percent), Metro Manila at 31 percent (from 28 percent), and Mindanao at 23 percent (from 20 percent).

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction remained highest in Mindanao at 59 percent, although it declined from 61 percent. This was followed by Metro Manila at 54 percent (from 59 percent), the Visayas at 44 percent (from 48 percent), and the rest of Luzon at 36 percent (from 40 percent).

The survey found improved satisfaction with the President across most age groups and educational levels. The poll surveyed 1,200 respondents nationwide and had a ±3 percent margin of error for national percentages.(Mary Elaine Virtucio, UP Cebu Comm Intern)
